As a college student, whether or not you are having sex, sex and choices around these behaviors can be confusing. There are so many reasons why we say yes and no to sexual intimacy. In this talk, we will explore sex in relation to sociosexual norms, power dynamics, communication, autonomy, and values when engaging in sex and sexual negotiations.

Let’s explore how we “do” and “don’t do” sex and how to have positive, pleasurable, and responsible sexual encounters while in college and beyond!

UCSD is hosting their 2nd annual Wellness Fair. I’ll be a keynote speaker about how college students can navigate sex, consent, and communication in today’s world. Through vignettes and examples of our sexual-social norms and ways of “doing sex,” students will learn new skills in connecting to others and creating a version of sexual expression that works for everyone.

A Girl Scout Troop in Riverside, CA, will be hosting me for this educational event. The intent is to teach the girls sex education with an approach that integrates compassion, normalizing sexual topics, and empowerment, and reduces misinformation, shame, and coercion.

Topics will include: Media literacy & music lyrics; Gender differences in sexual interests and how raised; Sexual consent – how to know when ready, coercion continuum, sexting; Sexual topics overall, such as first kiss, oral sex, virginity, mechanical part of intercourse, orgasm, social norms; Masturbation; LGBT topics; Body-image; Desire and pleasure; Menstruation; and Finding Porn.
