Tinder's new "Blind Date" feature -- Will it help with authentic connections?

In the past 6 months or so, the dating app Tinder, known for its particularly superficial approach to dating, has been expanding their user options for getting to know each other.

This week, Tinder rolled out their new “Blind Date” feature, where instead of swiping left or right primarily based on someone’s photos, daters can answer simple questions and get paired with someone who shares commonalities. Then they have a texting chat and see the information in the other’s profile. If they both “swipe right” and match with each other, only THEN will they be able to see each other’s photos.

I was interviewed by Lindsey Bever, a journalist at The Washington Post, for my thoughts on whether this is a positive development in dating apps.
