The Mindfulness Movie in San Diego! Fundraiser for Jeans 4 Justice

Purchase Mindfulness Movie tickets as San Diego fundraiser.

There is something we can do for as little as 8 minutes a day that will change our lives. That something is called MINDFULNESS, and I am hosting a movie fundraiser about this powerful practice. Mindfulness is simple in its concept, but difficult in its practice. Yet we can all learn to do it, and 35 of the leading experts in the field will help us out.

As a member of the Board of Directors for Jeans 4 Justice, I am hosting a showing of The Mindfuness Movie and a post-movie panel discussion. All ticket sales benefit Jeans 4 Justice, a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing sexual and relationship violence before it happens. Their programs help youth and young adults create compassionate relationships and skills to handle negative emotions in a healthy manner.

Here is a synopsis of The Mindfulness Movie. Full Life. Less Strife:

Experts agree. We don’t experience reality as it really is. We perceive it through a filter that allows us to see only what we’ve been conditioned to see. That’s because we’ve become trapped in the neurobiology of our own brains. As we grow older our actions and reactions become conditioned by our hopes, intentions, anxieties, motivations, loves, hates, desires, fears or frustrations. Eventually we become stuck in these patterns and live our lives on autopilot.

Join us on a journey with a group of 35 world-renowned authors and experts in neuroscience, psychiatry, relationships, sports psychology and quantum physics. Learn an ancient technique that is rapidly becoming embraced by modern science called Mindfulness.

How to Be More Vibrantly You!

What does it mean to live "vibrantly?" I looked up the formal definition recently, and read that "vibrant" means vigorous, lively, and vital, or pulsing with energy. This Friday, January 18, 2013, I will be speaking at a women's symposium on women's health, called Vibrantly You: Women's Wellbeing Symposium. This event is about helping women feel more alive both inside and out.

Gratefully women's health has been getting much greater attention in recent years, and there is a lot of research about how to be our most healthy and vibrant selves. This women's health symposium is founded by Dr. Diana Hoppe, who will share her inspirational story, and also speak about what women need to know about heart health and overall wellness. Dr. Jane Bening will clear up myths about women's hormones and hormone replacement therapy, and Dr. Tess Mauricio will speak about developing beauty on the inside and outside.

I will be wrapping up the lectures with an interative presenation about bringing mindfulness into your life for more fulfilling sexuality and greater passion! We'll complete the event with a parel discussion, fielding questions from the audience. I think when it comes down to it, the moments that we feel most alive are the most exciting and the most meaningful. However, it can be difficult to get out of the ruts and resentments of every day life. This event promises to stir things up and give women knowledge and tools to pulse with energy!

Vibranty You, Friday, January 18, 2013, 8am - 12:30pm, La Costa Resort, Carlsbad, CA.

As a friend of Dr. Jenn, you can receive a $22 discount with this "R & D" code. Register at the Vibranty You website, and I'll see you this Friday!

Sex During the Holidays & Vibrantly You

Why are sex and intimacy during the holidays important and helpful? And how can you make it a priority? I was interviewed along with Dr. Diana Hoppe, my colleague who is the founder of the Vibrantly You: Women's Wellbeing Symposium, on San Diego Living today. Dr. Diana shares research on how sex is actually healthy for us, I offer tips for how to bring intimacy into the holiday season, and we discuss the Vibrantly You Symposium on January 18, 2013.

Speakers for TEDxWomen in San Diego

The speaker's list for this Sunday's TEDxWomen in San Diego for America's Finest City is rocking! From authors, to physicians, to artists, and professors, I really anticipate this to be a moving conference, and I'm excited to be a part of a global women's event. For me and my topic of mindfulness and sex, the event theme of "the space between" speaks to all the shadows and silence around sexuality. For many women, their unspoken shame, guilt, and discomfort -- as learned within our society -- keeps them in fear and silence around their sexual needs, desires, and boundaries. And in the long run, this sucks for all of us. I'm going to speak to this concern and how mindfulness tools are the key to turning this around.

Come on out Sunday and join this conversation about "the space between"!

Dr. Jenn releases EBook on Sex!

Ebook on Female Sexuality by Dr. Diana Hoppe & Dr. Jenn.I'm proud to announce the release of my first ebook, with my co-author Dr. Diana Hoppe. Dr. Diana is a board certified OB/GYN, and we've merged our perspectives on women's sexuality to write Am I Normal? A Woman's Guide to Female Sexuality. We think all women could benefit from reading this short ebook, but it is specifically targeted to younger women from 18 - 30 years of age.

Chapter one explores the history (and herstory) of women's genitals, and chapter two teaches you the low down about down there. In chapter three you get to take the time to reflect on your own sexual journey. Chapters four through six guide you through the messages you learned about sex and gender growing up, body image and self-esteem, and sensuality and masturbation. Each chapter is followed by a worksheet to guide your journey through exploring your own sexuality.

This is available through Amazon Kindle, and also in a variety of other formats through Smashwords. Please let me know what you think!
